From Laurie McCaw, Executive Director:

Dear Friends,

What an exciting time this is! Our first ever gala is next week when we'll be celebrating all that you do and honoring two very special people who we couldn't have done without - Rich Rainaldi and Lalo Diaz. I hope you can join us for the fun and celebration.

Over the summer we completed three special projects, the HGTV filming (below) and projects with Honeywell and HSBC, two national sponsors for Rebuilding Together. And now, just around the corner is Fall Rebuilding Day, when you, our volunteers, will repair and revitalize 18 more homes in our community.

The new emergency repair program is in full swing along with A Home for All Seasons and the energy assistance program. We're also looking ahead at the possibility of returning to the Gulf Region to do more rebuilding from the hurricane devastation that still requires so much.

None of this would happen without you, our partners in the community, who give of your time and your resources to help your neighbors stay warm, safe, and dry, and living with dignity. Thank you!

In partnership,

Laurie McCaw signature

First, we apologize for inundating you with email about the auction. We've been getting our feet wet learning this new tool and trying to find the right balance of keeping you informed of new additions and approaching deadlines with filling up your inbox!

Second, have you been there yet? Have you started bidding? Thanks to generous donors there are some good deals to be had on home remodeling, fixtures, travel, massage, wine, golf, even car care.

Some items will only be sold online, so don't wait for the gala to check it out. Some items will transfer to the gala, but even if you are not able to attend, you can still participate with an absentee bid. Everyone can have fun and support the RTMD programs.

HGTV and Rebuilding Together

Last month several dozen Rebuilding Together volunteers came out to help with a project at Warren Village for the new HGTV series "Carter Can" hosted by Carter Oosterhouse. This show will air in November as part of a week-long series of shows featuring RT volunteers to launch a new collaboration called Change the World -- Start at Home!

Rebuilding Together is partnering with HGTV and the National Trust for Historic Preservation in a series of projects for community revitalization to grow and sustain thriving, healthy, and abundant communities.

Rebuilding Together Metro Denver is one of 10 RT affiliates across the country participating. These projects and the 10 cities will be featured on HGTV and on a special website where viewers will select 5 of the cities (by voting), that will then be funded and completed in conjunction with HGTV and volunteers.

The project filmed was at Warren Village, a transitional housing facility. Volunteers renovated their community room and board room. RT volunteers did everything from building the furniture to sewing drapes and cushions, to painting murals on the walls. It was a lot of fun and the HGTV crew was amazed at the quality of work and the enthusiasm of our volunteers. Click here to launch a slide show of all the pictures.

Meet our new Staff: Mary and Aaron

Please join us in welcoming our newest staff members, Mary Eisenstein, Development Manager, and Aaron Krieger, Administrative Assistant, bringing us up to seven employees.

From Aaron:
“I try to imagine seven impossible things before breakfast, but usually can only make it to three. I write, read, lift heavy things for my wife, walk my dogs and occasionally give blood. I’m genuinely excited about being part of the Rebuilding Together team, and helping out wherever I’m needed.”

From Mary:
"I feel incredibly lucky to have a job that makes such an amazing impact on people's lives and am excited to be a part of RTMD!"
