From Laurie McCaw, Executive Director:

Dear Friends,

The excitement is mounting for Rebuilding Day - less than 3 weeks away! All 32 teams are in place, homes have been visited, and workscopes are being finalized. The magic is about to happen. Then just two weeks later a large team of volunteers will spend a week rebuilding homes in New Orleans.

Before that happens we will celebrate with you, our volunteers and sponsors, and provide an opportunity for you to meet National CEO Gary Officer at the kickoff on April 18th.

Thank you to the Denver Broncos Alumni and Wells Fargo for hosting the kickoff and to Janice Baker, a VISTA member who stepped in for a few months to put it together. But most of all we thank YOU all for your support and dedication to transforming lives and revitalizing our community, one home at a time.

In partnership,

Laurie McCaw signature

If you are coming to the kickoff on April 18th take a peek at the silent auction that will raise funds for two more home rehabilitation projects - click here to see the fun items that have been donated. And if you haven't yet let us know that you're coming, please do so by emailing kickoff@rebuildingdenver.org. Thanks and see you there!

54 Homeowners and Family Members, 150 Students

That's who will be impacted by the work completed on Rebuilding Day.
Here are just a few of their stories.....

Saradee is a disabled veteran and a single mom raising 3-year old twins. The team of 99.5 The Mountain listeners are repairing her home, which will help her manage as she pursues vocational training.

Funds are still being raised to support this project. Click here for more information.

Megan is a disabled senior who has adopted 6 special needs children (aged 8-14) and provides care for a 70-year old friend who also lives with her. In addition to the repairs and modifications on her home, the team from American National Bank has also started a clothing drive for the kids to provide new clothes for the summer and upcoming school year. If you'd like to help, click here to see a list of what's needed.

Daniel and Mary are 78 and 73, respectively. They have lived in their home for 51 years, raising their 7 children there. Daniel upgraded and maintained the home until he became ill about 7 years ago. Mary hopes to stay at home and care for Daniel, but she needs help with maintenance to keep the home safe and secure. Mary suffered a stroke some time back and needs more assistance. They have a large family who help them quite a bit and may be joining the team from Pinnacol Assurance on Rebuilding Day.

Affectionately called "The Smurf House", the Community Outreach Project is a nonprofit school with a unique program for 2 1/2 to 6 year olds. Their building is a challenge every day. It is not set up for today's electrical and electronic needs and maintenance is a problem. The ASCE team will spend a total of three days on this project, April 21-22 & 28th. A large scale project, ASCE members have donated a total of $10,000 plus substantial in kind services to make it happen.

Leads Group Program Attracts In Kind Donors, too

How many times have our teams wished for a temporary storage unit on Rebuilding Day? Especially when the weather turns non-Colorado and it rains or snows. This year four of our teams will get their wish thanks to 1-800-Pack-Rat, a member of the Denver Metro Chamber Leads Group Program.

"1-800-PACK-RAT believes that the strength of our community is the backbone of our business. We are honored to be a part of rebuilding our community," stated Deanne Simpson, Director of Sales and Marketing. 1-800-Pack-Rat's unique delivery system allows these units to fit in some very small spaces - perfect for many of the challenges teams face on Rebuilding Day.

Catch Sam Wilson, president elect of the Leads Group Program, on 9News, Saturday morning, April 21st, probably in the 8:00 - 8:30 segment. He will be talking about their participation and support for Rebuilding Day.

Volunteer Team off to New Orleans

May 13-19, 33 volunteers and staff will join the effort to rebuild hurricane and flood-damaged homes in New Orleans.

They expect to complete at least 2-3 homes, possibly working side by side with the displaced homeowners.

Photos, stories, and maybe even some video will be posted on our website.

Look for "Gulf Rebuilding Volunteer" on nametags at the kickoff to meet some of the folks on the team.

Aerotek Golf to Benefit RTMD

On Thursday, June 7, 2007, Aerotek is teaming up with Rebuilding Together Metro Denver to host its 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Saddle Rock Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado. The tournament is going to be a scramble format and will kick-off with an 8AM Shotgun start. Immediately following the tournament, there will be a “Pig Roast” Luncheon and Raffle Prize Giveaway for all tournament participants. All proceeds will benefit RTMD, and Allegis Group will match every dollar raised. If you are interested in sponsorship (starting from $200) or donation information, please visit www.rebuildingdenver.org/aerotekgolf.htm for additional information and sign-up forms.

Rebuilding Day Sponsors

Please welcome all of our sponsors and volunteer teams for Rebuilding Day April 28, 2007. They will rehabilitate 31 homes and one nonprofit school. These teams will be part of an effort that will rehabilitate as many as 10,000 homes nationwide on that day.
