From Laurie McCaw, Executive Director:

Dear Friends,

Welcome to 2007! I hope it is starting out well for all of you.

2007 promises to be a banner year for Rebuilding Together Metro Denver. Our staff has grown, our programs are expanding, we are launching new celebrations and last but never least, we expect to nearly double the number of low-income homeowners benefiting from the services of you, our volunteers and sponsors.

We are pleased to have National CEO Gary Officer joining us from Washington D.C. for our kickoff in April, to have him share in the excitement of Rebuilding Day in Denver and to hear his vision for the organization nationally.

I look forward to seeing you all again in April as we work together to transform lives, homes and neighborhoods.

Thank you!

In partnership,

Laurie McCaw signature

Homeowner Spotlight: Helen Cox

This new handrail was one of the modifications done for Helen and her family by
A Home for All Seasons

submitted by Brad Breland, Construction Manager

Helen, an independent octogenarian, has taken care of her 3 disabled siblings for a good part of her life in the family home in Sheridan. She recently spent some time in the hospital and her brothers and sisters had to live in an assisted living facility until she was able to return home. She has been able to maintain the house by herself for many years, but in order for her and her family to return, Helen needed some help to get a few minor repairs and accessibility items for the home. Through the Home for All Seasons handyman program, the home was fitted with a handrail and landing for the front porch, grab bars and a bench for the tub, new locks and a storm door. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were also installed. It was also possible to replace 4 old windows with ones that would actually open and are more energy efficient.

Helen is grateful that her neighbors heard about Rebuilding Together's programs and that the repairs were made to the home to make it safe and comfortable for the family's return.

The work done for Helen and her family was made possible by funds from Arapahoe County. A grant to RTMD utilizes Community Development Block Grant funds for programs in unincorporated Arapahoe County, Sheridan, Centennial, Englewood, and Littleton. If you know of someone in these areas in need of assistance, please encourage them to apply. (application)

"I am delighted and honored to join the Rebuilding Together Metro Denver team," said Mary. "The mission is outstanding and I've been touched by the heart and soul of this agency."
