From
Laurie McCaw, Executive Director:
Dear
Friends,
Happy Thanksgiving!
It's a perfect time for Rebuilding Together Metro Denver to reflect on our good fortune to have had such wonderful volunteers, homeowners, and supporters over the years. As the end of 2006 draws near, the nonprofit has rehabilitated approximately 200 homes with major renovations and repairs, and an additional 150 homes through the year round A Home for All Seasons minor home repair program. We're forging a path for renewal in Denver's neighborhoods, but our travels are just beginning!
Rebuilding Together receives many letters from thankful homeowners telling us their stories of gratitude and appreciation for making their homes warm, safe and dry so that they can remain in their homes and live independently. From all of us to all of you - MANY THANKS for your generosity and for making a difference in your community.
Thank you!

How far will our volunteers go to help low-income Denver homeowners? For Lyndi and Whitey Reed..... roughly 500 miles, from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Denver, pulling a trailer containing a workshop most handy-folks would give their eye teeth for.
J.L. "Whitey" Reed is Vice President of Sales, West Region, for HomeSphere, Inc., a first time house sponsor this past October. He is also a third generation master plumber, licensed contractor, and a cofounder of a Habitat chapter in Akron, Ohio. Lyndi Reed is a commercial realtor for Keller Williams in Salt Lake City.
With experienced team members like Whitey and Lyndi, HomeSphere took on a project that included reconfiguring the kitchen sink and counter for wheelchair access, new flooring and a multitude of other repairs and modifications. You can see their work in the photo gallery.

ASCE and RTMD recognized for their work at Shiloh House |
The American Society of Civil Engineers, Colorado Section (ASCE) and RTMD were honored this month at Shiloh House's annual dinner "Restoring Lives in Our Community".
From their program that evening:
"This evening, Shiloh House is honoring two organizations that were instrumental in the major renovation of the Yarrow Program in April of 2006. Rebuilding Together brings volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of those in need. Trough their generosity and the coordination of the volunteers from The Colorado Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Yarrow Program was renovated to include a new kitchen floor and countertops, retaining wall, new appliances, interior paint, deck and awning repair and much more. We are incredibly grateful for these two organizations and their commitment to the youth of Shiloh House to ensure that their home continues to a safe and comfortable place to complete their treatment."
RTMD also thanks ASCE for their long time commitment and all their generous donations of both volunteer time and materials.
