From
Laurie McCaw, Executive Director:
Dear
Friends,
Just two more days!
Saturday is National Rebuilding Day and nationally, our teams have a role in making 9,000 homes warm, safe and dry THIS Saturday! Here at Rebuilding Together, we are excited and anxious to see 27 projects throughout metro Denver come to fruition!
As a result of their work, 60 people in our community will have homes that are safer, warmer, and dryer. Some will even regain independence that they haven't had for a long time and that may enable them to stay in their homes for many years to come.
I am thankful for all our sponsors who put their names and resources behind these projects. I am thankful for the many businesses and individuals who have donated their valuable skills and materials for substantial projects such as roofs and windows. And last, but certainly not least, I am so thankful for all of our volunteers, without whom we could not provide this service in our community.
Have a GREAT, SAFE REBUILDING DAY and on behalf of all of us here at Rebuilding Together, THANK you for your efforts to make a difference in the lives of at-risk low-income homeowners, that simply want to age in place in a warm, safe and dry home! YOU are the energy behind what makes it happen for them.

Spotlight: Susan and Mary |
This Saturday, these two homes, 2 of the 27 homes being repaired on Rebuilding Day, will be done by volunteer teams from Countrywide Home Loans.
Susan is 73 years old, disabled, and has lived in her home for 37 years. There are many warmth and safety issues that need attention in Susan's home. Handrails, bathroom modifications, but perhaps the most critical is repair to the bathroom subfloor, shown to the right. This team will be repairing the subfloor and putting down new tile in the bathroom.

Mary is 63 years old and lives in her home of 32 years with her daughter and 4 grandchildren ages 10-15. Mary is diabetic and suffers from sciatic nerve problems. Her daughter is unable to work. Mary's home needs door replacement, weatherization, flooring repair, a new front door lock and other safety repairs. |

Some work is already complete |

Most of the work of Rebuilding Day will take place this Saturday. An amazing transformation of lives and neighborhoods. But some of our neighbors have needs that cannot be taken care of in that one day. We are so fortunate to have generous in-kind partners such as the Colorado Roofing Association, Accent Windows, and Stellar Painting, who have sent out their professional teams to do some of the really big jobs.
Already complete are 3 new furnaces, 9 new roofs, 11 other homes with roof repairs, 2 complete new set of windows, 2 new water heaters, 6 energy efficient refrigerators and one new ramp. Just like the rest of the work on Rebuilding Day, all of this has been done at no cost to the at-risk homeowners.
We will get back to you after Rebuilding Day with the full story of what your support has accomplished. For now, here is a look at one of these life-changing projects. |

Above right: The new ramp, with combination stairway, has all the safety and accessibility features, such as wheelchair level handrails to for stability and strength, and treads that help control speed and rollback.
