From Laurie McCaw,
Executive Director:

Happy Holidays and New Year to YOU!

Here at Rebuilding Together we are making our lists, and checking them twice....in preparation for a new and exciting 2006! With lots ahead to accomplish next year, our staff is wrapping up - not boxes or presents - but end of the year tasks.

Do you like to swing a hammer? Is painting your expertise? Then, we'll be needing YOU - soon! In 2006, Rebuilding Together will help more than 200 homeowners with hundreds of repair projects as we gear up for TWO Rebuilding Campaigns in April and October. I hope you'll join us in our effort to help low income elderly and disabled homeowners to continue to live in warm, safe and dry homes.

In the meantime, may you and yours have a warm, safe and joyous holiday season.

Thanks for your continued support and generosity to our mission.

Sharon Taylor's mom gets around in a wheelchair. But one place she couldn't go was in and out of the house. The step at the door was too much to manage.

Last month, RTMD's year-round repair program, A Home For All Seasons, installed a sturdy ramp with handrails at the back door.

Look at Mom grin now that she can come and go with ease and in safety!

Rebuilding After the Hurricanes

Rebuilding Together's National Office, with the help of its 250 affiliates nationwide and Countrywide Financial Corporation has launched "Rebuild 1000!", a year-long project to rebuild 1,000 homes in the hurricane-ravaged Gulf area. This project will involve 25,000 volunteers and deliver well over $10 million in market value work.

Express your interest in volunteering to be on the RTMD team. Click here to fill out a volunteer application.

Rebuilding Together Metro Denver will probably participate in Rebuild 1000! by sending one or more teams of volunteers to New Orleans or Gulfport sometime in 2006 to help with this project. We will especially need skilled people such as roofers, carpenters, plumbers and electricians, but as in all Rebuilding Together projects, there is plenty of work for all skill levels. The teams will stay about a week. We'll know more about the exact work scope, transportation and living arrangements as the project gets closer, but if you think you might be interested and able to help, please fill out an application now. We'll stay in touch as the projects develop and we finalize plans to help.

For more information on this project click here.
